Biomedical Campus, Cambridge
Having been deemed a ‘seriously water stressed’ area by the Environment Agency, the client had a responsibility to achieve high levels of water efficiency within their new discover centre building and a wish to attain BREEAM Excellent status. Their latest building, set to be home to 2,300 scientists, was designed with many sustainable technologies to reduce the environmental impact of the building.
Stormsaver were tasked by the consulting engineers to provide a rainwater harvesting solution for several new buildings within the campus. The solution came in the form of three of our highly reliable non-pressurised rainwater harvesting systems, all utilising a large 80,000-litre below-ground tank.
The consulting engineers also wanted to ensure high levels of water quality and low maintenance requirements. To meet this requirement, our team provided our Automatic Backwash Filter which autonomously undergoes self-cleaning upon detecting a build-up of debris.
