Rainwater Harvesting for Sweet Manufacturing Facility
Having heard about the water-saving potential of rainwater harvesting, the client wanted to incorporate a system into their new sustainable manufacturing facility. The facility aimed to produce 48,000 tonnes of sweets per year all in a BREEAM-rated Excellent building. With the help of a Stormsaver rainwater harvesting system, the client has been able to reduce potable water demand across their site.
Stormsaver worked closely with the mechanical and electrical contractor on the project to specify and supply our Combi Rainwater Harvesting System which has now successfully provided a sustainable supply of water for the past 7 years with minimal downtime during this period. The Stormsaver Rainwater Harvesting System was designed to supply 33 toilets and 4 urinals within the staff welfare facilities. The client also opted for our UV (ultra-violet) filter to eliminate the risk of bacteria.
Having understood the importance of planned preventative maintenance for their rainwater harvesting investment, the client opted for our bi-annual service solution and regular tank cleaning to ensure a high-quality water supply for building users. On our latest service visit our engineer discovered the system had recycled nearly 2 million litres of rainwater. This is the equivalent of 412,500 toilet flushes for the facility.
