Bus Station, North Nottinghamshire

Having realised the benefits of rainwater harvesting on their other projects, the local authority wanted to continue saving water on their latest bus station project. Designed and specified by the local authority’s in-house team of architects, the £11.6 million project incorporated a café, retail store, travel information centre, and a spacious customer concourse.

Stormsaver was on hand to assist with specifying the best rainwater harvesting system to take advantage of the large 700m2 roof space. The water-saving solution came in the form of our non-pressurised rainwater harvesting system designed to provide a sustainable water supply for the 12 customer toilets. The site also required an above-ground storage tank to avoid the issue of a below-ground solution being in the bus arrivals area which could have disrupted site operations during a maintenance visit.

The system was designed to save the site 400,000 litres of water annually. Stormsaver has also recently been entrusted with the maintenance of the bus station as well as five other rainwater harvesting systems across the local authority's estate. Having not been serviced for some time, the client has requested our initial system assessment service as well as two maintenance visits per year going forward.
