Rainwater Harvesting for ORU Community Building in London
Stormsaver assists the leading high-street regeneration developer in saving 59,000 litres of water in just 4 months.
Having purchased an old department store, the team at ORU had a vision to convert the space into a mixed-use building, housing co-working and community spaces. The designs incorporated a community rooftop garden. Realising the need for irrigation facilities, coupled with their genuine desire for sustainability, ORU decided to look for a solution to harvest rainwater from their roof space for recycling.
Due to the existing design of the building, ORU required a compact solution which minimised the space taken from the surrounding roof garden area. The solution came in the form of our self-contained StormStation which allowed for simple installation.
The rainwater harvesting system was designed to serve toilets within the co-working facility and the irrigation system for the rooftop community garden area. Having been installed for just a few months, the system has already saved 59,000 litres of water with plans to increase the collection area feeding system by connecting additional roof spaces.
